A Desk Frame You Can Build On

A sit stand desk frame is the steel base, the lifting columns and the control box. You supply the desktop, so the same adjustable desk legs can carry a top you already own or one cut to the room.

Both frames are built in Melbourne-supported stock, tested to AFRDI for strength and durability, and sold with a 10-year warranty and a 14-day trial. A frame does not treat back pain. It lets you set the work height to you, then change it through the day.

What These Desk Legs Include

Dual Motors

One motor in each leg, so the desktop stays level while it moves, including with monitors on it.

Three-Stage Columns

Telescopic columns give a wider height range than a two-stage set of table legs, and stay supported when standing.

Four Memory Presets

Save a sitting and a standing height. Shared desks can keep a preset per person.

Anti-Collision and Child Lock

The frame stops if it meets a drawer or chair arm. The lock avoids accidental moves in a family room.

Which Desktop Fits These Desk Legs

The feet and columns are sized for desktops from 1200 mm to 1800 mm wide. A rigid top matters more than the species: a thin or bowed panel will flex between the legs even if the frame is rated well above the load.

Our own tops are laminate, bamboo and rubberwood, in 1200 × 600 mm, 1500 × 750 mm and 1800 × 750 mm. If you use your own top, pre-drill it and keep the fixing screws short of the finished face.

How to Fit Adjustable Desk Legs

  1. Measure the wall, then leave chair room behind you. The footprint is the desktop, not the feet alone.
  2. Build the frame first and run it once, unloaded, before the top goes on.
  3. Centre the top so both feet sit inside its edges. An overhang past the feet makes the desk feel loose.
  4. Set the keypad's upper and lower limits before it can meet a windowsill, drawer or chair arm.
  5. Route power and monitor cables with slack for the full lift. A tight cable is the usual reason a frame stops halfway.

Work out the two heights with the desk height calculator, then save them to the presets. A cable basket keeps the loop off the floor, and frame casters are for rooms where the desk has to move.

Why a Sit Stand Desk Frame Beats Fixed Desk Legs

Fixed table legs hold the top at one height. If that height is wrong for you, the only adjustment left is the chair, and standing is not an option.

A sit stand desk frame moves the whole top, keyboard and monitors together. That is the useful part for a desk shared between two people, or used for work by day and something else at night. Desk Frame Questions

Does a sit stand desk frame include the desktop?

No. These two products are the frame only: legs, feet, crossbeam, control box and keypad. Add one of our desktops, or fit your own top between 1200 mm and 1800 mm wide.

How much weight can the desk legs hold?

JOY Solid is rated to 125 kg and KING Pro to 150 kg, including the desktop. A dual-monitor setup with a monitor arm is usually well under either limit.

Will adjustable desk legs wobble when standing?

Any telescopic leg has some movement at full extension. Three-stage columns and a dual motor keep that small. A rigid top, centred on the frame, matters as much as the leg rating.

Can I use my own desktop?

Yes, if it is rigid, 1200–1800 mm wide, and thick enough to take the frame screws without breaking through. Check the fixing positions against your top before you drill.

Which frame should I buy?

JOY Solid for a normal workstation. KING Pro if you want the 150 kg rating, the faster 50 mm/s lift, a dark grey frame, or the tool-free build.

What warranty and support come with it?

Ten years on the frame and a 14-day trial. Support is from our Melbourne team. See warranty and shipping.

Build your desk

Choose a Sit Stand Desk Frame

Start with the legs, then add a desktop. If you would rather have both in one box, the complete standing desks use these same frames.
